About Shepherds Cottage

The whole garden was completely redesigned for the current owners in 2016 by Anne-Marie Powell and was a SGD finalist for 2021. The garden has recently been featured on the Sky Arts programme ‘The Art of the Garden’ 2023. The plot comprises of 5 different garden areas, including woodland, roses, herbaceous, a rolling yew ball hedge, bulbs, grasses, meadow and much more. Two herbaceous sections were totally revamped in 2024 and are full of interest and colour from March to September. All areas attract a huge number of bees and butterflies. The picturesque historic church, St Mary’s, Stoughton (11th century), behind the cottage, is well worth a visit.
