About Shobrooke Park Gardens
In the 1850s Shobrooke Park with it’s cascade of lakes and careful tree planting was created in front of the new house. Behind the house the formal garden was laid out with extensive Portland stone terracing to match the rest of Shobrooke Park. After the house was lost in a fire in January 1945, the garden was neglected.
In the 1980 we started to restore this spectacular garden. Shobrooke Park Garden had always been a spring garden, so as well as adding to the original rhododendron, azaleas, magnolias and camellias we have introduced new planting to extend the season. As you wander through the garden, with the bluebells under the oak trees, admiring the magnolias, rhododendrons and camellias, you catch views out over Shobrooke Park.
