About The Knapp
The main areas of the garden were begun in what predominantly a field in 2016. The one acre is still being transformed into a wildlife haven with an incredible number of bees and butterflies and other wildlife.
Over 100 trees and hedging whips were planted at the start. The wildlife habitats includes; a 250 year old Oak tree overlooking a wildlife pond, two hazel copse, wildflower meadow, hedges and edges.
The areas of the garden dedicated to wildlife are managed but by design are untidy and may include plants often banned from other gardens. In direct contrast, naturalistic prairie planting is a special interest of the owner, forming large beds in the centre of the garden with drifts of grasses and colourful perennials in autumn hues.
There is a working kitchen garden with a polytunnel, raised beds, soft fruits, a small orchard and a herb garden.
There are plenty of seats to sit and take in the garden and view, before returning to your car and the amazing tea and cake at the village hall (proceeds to the WI and Village Hall). Well behaved dogs on short leads welcome in the garden and in the village hall. It is generally uneven ground with limited paths.
