At the front is a crevice garden built with Pennant sandstone from the Forest of Dean and planted with more than 400 different alpine plants. At the rear there is a patio with pots leading to an area of bulbs, shrubs and perennials planted for year round interest. The soil is clay and the site has areas of shade from neighbouring trees. At the side there is a narrow strip with fruit, vegetables and a greenhouse propagation area. The level paths are paved or woodchip. All lawn has been removed to make way for planting.
