About 3 Pilgrims Place

Joe and Linda look forward to welcoming you to their small jungle-themed water garden to the rear of their two-bedroom terrace house. Their aim of creating this space was to offer an escape from the hustle and bustle of town and take them back to their travels in the tropical rainforests of Asia and South America.

Upon entering the garden, you are instantly surrounded by the sight and sound of water. The pond spans across the entire width of the space, featuring three waterfall streams cascading over glacial boulders. The only way to access the rear of the garden is via a curved bridge over the pond. A meandering path invites you to explore the rear of the garden where you will discover a sunken fire pit, a jungle hut, and a smaller water feature.

The ground level changes, wooden structures and tall, lush planting (mainly various clumping bamboo varieties and hardy palms) creates the illusion of a larger space by dividing the area into ‘rooms’. The visitor can explore specimens of aquatic plants such as waterlilies, Thalia dealbata and terrestrial plants used as marginals (colocasias and cannas). The jungle feel is enhanced by big leaved plants such as tetrapanax, paulownia, fatsia and Musa basjoo, under-planted with heaps of ferns, hostas, brunneras, mind-your-own-business, mosses and many more. A perfect place to sit and unwind and watch the koi swim around.
