Bolwick Hall

Landscaped gardens and park surrounding a late Georgian hall. The original garden design is attributed to Humphry Repton. The landscaping and borders have been rejuvenated, a gravel garden and formal area planted, and the walls of the house clad in old roses. Enjoy a woodland walk around the lake and a stroll through the working vegetable and the fruit garden with its double herbaceous border.

About Bolwick Hall

The gardens at Bolwick Hall have a traditional design, but with the inclusion of more contemporary planting schemes. Over the last few years the borders have been replanted to include some striking architectural plants, a formal, walled area and a gravel garden. The working vegetable garden and double herbaceous border are designed to provide interest all year round.

The backdrop is a collection of mature rhododendrons and conifers such as wellingtonia, swamp cypress and larches. Other trees include many flowering cherry varieties, a weeping pear, tulip tree, ginkgo, willows and apple espaliers.

The lake is the most suggestive of Repton’s involvement as it curves around to give the impression of distance. The lakeside walk has a naturalistic feel, several places to sit and rest and it abounds with wildlife.
