Careys Secret Garden

Behind a 150 yr old wall, situated just outside of Wareham, sits 3 ½ acres in the midst of transformation. Left untouched for more than 40 yrs, this garden is now flourishing again, with a focus on permaculture and rewilding.

About Careys Secret Garden

Carey’s Secret Garden opened its gates to the public in May 2021. This wild, walled,
Victorian garden was only rediscovered in 2019 and has undergone extensive
restoration to re-imagine the gardens for a modern age. Created with expertise in rewilding, permaculture and natural gardening, Careys is open to an intimate number of visitors each week. We also run a range of unique and exciting events and experiences – please see our website for details www.careyssecretgarden.co.uk.

Visitors can enjoy an Arid Garden, Rose Garden, Tea & Herb Garden, traditional Orchard & local Wildflower Meadow, and Permaculture Zone. Explore the exciting Stumpery and Food Forest area and shop the peat-free sustainably grown plant sales collection. Our on site ‘Secret Coffee Shop’ serves a selection of cakes and light bites with our commitment to working with the local community at the forefront of everything we offer. Please feel free to bring along your own re-usable cup to help us reduce waste.

Set against the backdrop of the spectacular Isle of Purbeck, Carey’s Secret Garden
remains a closely guarded secret due to its unique habitat and sensitive wildlife.

Visitors can expect to see a young and exciting space that they can return to
each season to see the growth and regeneration.

We send the exact location once you have booked a ticket. The garden is within a 3m radius of Wareham, (5 min drive from the train stn). 11m from Poole & 19m from Dorchester.
