10 acres of restored C17/18 walled gardens attached to a Jacobean manor (now a hotel), with a further 30 acres of historic parkland and nature reserve. Formal yew parterres, wilderness walks, summerhouses, holly maze, espaliered fruit and wild areas.

Like visiting the 18th century rural country in a 21st century city!
Rescued by volunteers 30 years ago the garden contains over 600 species of plants and flowers. Still maintained largely by volunteers, the compact walled site maintains formal parterres in yew and box and nurtures formal and informal orchards with over 60 trees and 35 varieties of heritage fruit Period wilderness walks, formal borders, summerhouses, a holly maze and kitchen garden is a delight for garden lovers and casual visitors alike. The areas outside the walls are a haven for wildlife, den building and mud kitchen areas for the young ones to explore
One of the few remaining pre-Capability Brown garden layouts.
