About Dorothy Clive Garden
A very beautiful 12 acre garden. Created from a quarry in the 1950’s on acid soil so spectacular plantings of Camelia start the year. Later Rhododendrons and Azaleas with Magnolias and Prunus give way to mature Cornus kousa, Kalmia and Crinodendron.
Inspirational planting on the hillside garden of roses and herbaceous planting mingled with mature trees and shrubs are at their best through early summer. Tropical borders then take centre stage around the tea rooms giving way to autumn colour and full circle to the Winter garden. Listed as one of the best Winter Gardens in Britain by the Daily Mail 2018 and one of the best woodland gardens by Jim Gardiner of the RHS. Full of rare and unusual trees and shrubs and inspired herbaceous planting combinations.
Throughout the year the edible woodland, arboretum and the Mediterranean glasshouse add further interest.
