About Frog Hall Barn
Bee friendly flower and vegetable garden at its best in late May/early June. Set in 3/4 of an acre, the barn is a conversion of a threshing barn. The fold yard to the front is now a walled courtyard garden with a lawned area, with a mixture of perennials and annuals and patio area. To the rear, the gardens stretch down to the Breighton Ings and the river Derwent beyond. Anchored by two mature horse chestnut trees, the gardens include herbaceous borders with a range of cottage garden flowers selected to encourage wildlife and especially bees. The borders surround a lawn and beyond is a small meadow with wild flowers together with hives of buckfast bees, assorted fruit trees & chickens. The vegetable garden centres on a traditional greenhouse with brick paths, a wide assortment of berry fruits, asparagus, herbs, beans, brassicas, squash & root vegetables.
