About Guy's Cliffe Walled Garden
Tucked away behind Hinton’s Nursery, a secret garden has been woken from its slumbers… A Grade II listed garden of special historic interest, the Walled Garden was originally part of the kitchen garden for historic Guy’s Cliffe House on the north side of Warwick and dates from the mid-1700s.
Clearance and restoration work on the site started in January 2014, with the aim of restoring the walls and glasshouses and returning the site to a working Georgian/Victorian kitchen garden for the enjoyment and educational benefit of the community, and to give an insight into how the garden supported an important country house.
10 years into the project, the garden has a warm welcoming feel as you walk round and learn about its history, its buildings and the fruit, flowers and vegetables – including many heritage varieties – which have now been planted
The fruit and vegetables and are donated to local foodbanks and a night shelter, although we also save some to sell to visitors on the day.
