Eight acre garden that has undergone substantial, and ongoing, renovation. The formal gardens include mixed herbaceous and shrub borders, a parterre, croquet lawn, courtyard and fountain, fernery and vegetable garden.The extensive woodland areas contain some magnificent older trees including redwoods and cedars, as well as choice trees and shrubs planted within the last 10 years, such as magnolia, acer, sorbus and betula. There are stunning views over the River Ure to the north and Jervaulx Abbey, which is adjacent to the gardens on the south side. The gardens include the Abbey Mill ruins and also contain a growing collection of contemporary sculpture.
