About Larch Cottage Nurseries
A true plants person’s nursery and garden set in the heart of the Eden Valley, built and continually developed over the last 40 years by the owners. Behind the façade of traditional Cumbrian stone cottages, lies a rich and varied horticultural experience, with something to discover around every corner. Italian inspired Romanesque walls create a unique setting showcasing the wide variety of plants available, including the extensive range of rare and unusual specimens, such as Japanese acers, old fashioned roses, dwarf conifers and ornamental grasses. The gardens are a tranquil place, where paths meander beside herbaceous borders, a wildflower meadow and orchard. While the stream, surrounded by lush vegetation, leads down to a small lake with a small chapel, designed and built by Peter and where the chapel interior has been frescoed by artist James Walsh. The lawns lead on to a delightful Kitchen Garden, where many of the produce used in the restaurant is grown. The borders are perfect for those seeking inspiration as many of the plants are available to purchase in the nursery.
