About Peelers Retreat
A stunning garden filled with imaginative woodland sculptures and natural forestry features. These quirky yet tasteful additions are set within a wonderful garden laid out around a raised fishpond and small rockery. An inventive rill wends its way through parts of the garden and a working Victorian fireplace makes for a cosy area to dine by or partake in a delicious afternoon tea.
Curved and irregular shaped beds interlock with safe walkways, generously planted with a range of specimen trees that have been adapted to give height, structure and dappled shade. Underneath the canopy, architectural plants are playfully mixed in with fragrant roses, clematis, luxurious canna lilies and the dazzling colours of dahlias, fuchsias and bedding plants There’s a variety of spring flowers. Summer bedding plants, with sweet chestnut roots used as planters for bonsai trees and a colourful living wall.
Painted pots containing late flowering exotic plants, as well as a fully stocked greenhouse of salad vegetables. All this and much more has been included into this gently terraced garden.
During our April opening the focus will be colourful tulip beds, whilst May, June and July hosts gorgeous clematis, palms and roses, September and October have a blaze of late summer and autumn colours with hydrangeas, cannas, dahlias and exotic plants.
By arrangement visits
For groups of up to 24, afternoon tea can be served at tables, menu available on request. We can accommodate groups of up to 30 if visitors are happy with tea & cake.
