About Plas Yn Llan

Plas-yn-Llan, Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant. Formerly the Sun Temperance Hotel, the brick tiled inner courtyard provides a peaceful retreat from the busy village street. Trained fruit and box hedges as well as abundant troughs and containers fill the garden with colour and scent. The back garden has slate paths winding through beds of herbaceous plants, many originally brought from Dolwen, the former owner Frances Denby’s garden which was on the Yellow Book cover in 1999. The new owners have created a low stone wall from which to the view the garden from the street, and are currently training espaliered crab apples to screen the view of the village hall carpark.
