About Snakesbury
We have developed the garden and field over the past decade from mainly lawns into a varied and interesting wildlife friendly space that appeals to plant lovers.
We leave areas wild to encourage skylarks, owls, grass snakes, stoats, slow worms, lizards, many butterflies, and countless small birds. The newly-planted woodland includes birch, oak, pine, cherry, alder, willow, acer, hazel, liquidamber, cedar, larch, cornus, aspen, redwood, plane, and some rare trees, mostly grown from seed onsite. There are paths mown through the long grass to encourage exploration, and a native mix hedgerow around the outer perimeter of the field.
