About The Mount

When we moved to the Mount in 1998 it had been used as a nursery with greenhouses, boiler room and chicken runs. There was no planting and some rough area of lawn, so we began our plan to turn it into a home and garden.
We started by dividing the land into nine separate areas and worked on one area at a time and in 2003 we took back the 5 acre field which had been rented to a local farmer and planted the woodland with 1100 saplings. Now matured it has a central carriage drive and pathways through for a tranquil walk.
In the formal gardens we have over 100 statues and works of art many of which you will find very surprising and fun. For children visiting we have created an A3 double sided sheet with 60 different pictures for the children to search out. Apart from a formal fountain and informal pools through the grounds we also display over 40 baskets and troughs with summer planting.
We also offer a superb garden display of Christmas Lights and would be pleased to see many visitors during the evening. Father Christmas will be on hand to greet the children
We promise our visitors a warm welcome and the chance to spend time in our large but very different garden.

We have three large dogs (poodle/ labrador cross) and they very much enjoy the garden and meeting all our visitors
.

Over 100 statues and works of art. I-spy sheets for children. Fantastic Christmas lights and Santa grotto in December.
