About The Old Vicarage

Until 1996 two acres of fenced pony paddocks surrounded the main lawn – hence a blank canvas once the fences were removed ! Now transformed over 28yrs into a gorgeously beautiful, organic plant lovers’ garden designed to make the most of natural sloping south facing undulations. Well-established peaceful rooms, surprises around every corner, borrowed stunning views of hills and farmland in attractive village. Dozens of clematis and roses abound, tumbling freely, balanced with a love of texture, shape, colour and fragrance – together with an artful eye for design and a love of unusual/rare plants and trees, this garden gives huge pleasure all the year round. Abundant wildlife and a children’s haven. Swimming pool planting now matured to soften this hidden sun trap on edge of woodland. Meander through roughly mown paths overlooking peaceful meadow with grazing cattle sometimes. Many benches and seating to rest or ponder and re-charge the batteries – pond teaming with activity and lovely planting or above pool views overlooking the valley. Delicious Aga baked cakes to add to your enjoyment on terraces and sweeping lawns in friendly, relaxed surroundings, served by a wonderful team of cheerful and generous friends. Always exciting, unusual plants of high quality for sale to enhance your own gardens!
(Beautiful 12th Century Church a short walk away – open to visitors and peaceful planted churchyard for contemplation).
