About Alswick Hall

As one approaches the Tudor House in Spring, a long border with drifts of tulips are interplanted with emerging perennials. This is backed by stunning climbing roses against the beautiful brick barn. In front of the house, the formal 4-bed parterre has a spectacular display of tulips, carefully orchestrated each year. The beds surrounding the parterre have carefully placed evergreen shrubs to create a formal structure and the 5-acre garden is home to many mature flowering deciduous shrubs and tall statuesque trees. The garden at this time of year is bursting with spring planting. There are swathes of daffodils and narcissi under the many beautiful pergolas which are covered with early summer wisteria and climbing roses. The woodland, orchard and meadow are a delight with vast areas of spring planting. There are two large ponds with rockeries and a stream. The ponds are well stocked and the rockeries are exquisite with spring colour and many unusual primula varieties. In autumn, the tulip parterre beds are replaced completely and replaced with a wonderful display of dahlias. The garden has now reached its full impact with late summer perennials looking their best and the grasses and wildflower meadow look wonderful. There is also a kitchen garden being harvested throughout the year and many large pots with seasonal planting.

Access: There is plenty of parking in the field nearby. The garden is wheelchair friendly and accessible mostly.
