About Bishopscourt
Bishopscourt has been the home of Bishops of Rochester since 1920, with the walled garden providing a secluded oasis in the heart of the town. The garden has been continuously developed for over a decade with many areas to enjoy, including large lawns, mature trees, rose garden, gravel garden, shade borders, meadow, glasshouse, a potager style vegetable garden and more. From a raised lookout at the far end of the garden there are views of the castle and the River Medway with stairs that drop down into the Secret Garden, large mixed borders hidden behind formal yew hedging. All areas of the garden are bursting with a vast array of perennials, annuals, bulbs, grasses, trees and shrubs for an interesting displays throughout the year.
