Horatio's Garden

Beautifully designed by Bunny Guinness and delightfully planted, Horatio’s Garden Midlands opened to great acclaim in September 2019. Partly funded by the National Garden Scheme, the garden offers a therapeutic place of peace for patients, their loved ones and NHS staff spending time in the Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries. Featuring raised beds, beautiful specimen trees, multi-purpose garden room, gorgeous glasshouse, and a pretty rill running the length of the garden, this is a horticultural sanctuary like no other.

About Horatio's Garden

Horatio’s Garden Midlands is designed to offer year-round interest, therefore visitors can expect intriguing, vibrant planting to stimulate all the senses. The garden is fully accessible, therefore everyone can appreciate the sights and sounds of nature which thrive in the garden. Raised beds are filled with plants, flowers, fruits and vegetables, whilst the Griffin Glasshouse is a real sight to behold. The serpentine rill fills the garden with the tranquil sound of running water, with a woodland pathway lined with river birches gently curving its way behind it. The gorgeous garden room is a home away from home, a cosy place where everyone can enjoy the garden whatever the weather. A stunning magnolia tree planted in memory of Dame Agnes Hunt, whom the hospital is named after, is nestled amongst the seasonal planting; an unexpected treat just waiting to be discovered.
