The Wonky Garden

The flower garden is our show garden, the focus for horticultural therapy/nature based activities. It has large herbaceous borders, trees and shrubs, planting focussing on the senses and wildlife. We grow masses of edibles and cut flowers in the allotment garden, 80% is donated to support food poverty. The children’s ‘explorify’ garden nestles between the two and is used to support young families.

About The Wonky Garden

We are developing a new space called ‘The Yard’, it is in the sunniest part of the garden and it will be divided into three areas. The DIY Hub will have a huge multifunctional workshop and shelter, the Growing Hub already has our huge new greenhouse, it’s big enough for our Community Growing Network to meet, learn and experiment together during a the seasons and a Relaxation Hub to sit surrounded by nature. The overall aim is to increase capacity for visiting groups to come and learn and encourage them to develop their own green spaces and we hope to complete the main infrastructure by spring 2024.

.

The garden is designed and managed by a wonderful group of volunteers. We support many community groups and individuals of all ages and abilities inc schools, colleges and work experience. Our focus is on supporting physical and mental health, isolation and loneliness.
