About Trinity College
Historic, listed Oxford College gardens, on a site dating back to C13th.
The park-like front quadrangle has mature specimen trees incl. Catalpa and Cedrus (Cedar). A seeded annual meadow has been created in front of Kettell Hall, on the side of Broad St.
The Back Lawns provide a sweeping view between Garden Quad (based on a design by Christopher Wren) and Parks Road, through C17th wrought iron gates. In Spring 2025 a new 120m border, designed by celebrated plantsman Chris Beardshaw has been created down the side of these lawn. A line of Taxus (Yew) along this garden remain from a 300 year-old formal garden design.
New planting areas were created in the Woodland and Library Quad in 2021 following extensive redevelopment of college buildings. These focus on sustainable plantings, requiring less watering and providing long seasons of flowering plants for pollinators.
The private President’s Garden and newly restored Fellows’ Garden will be open for viewing.
