About Trymnells
Trymnells sits in the middle of the plot which is approximately a third of an acre and was built on a piece of land which once formed part of the adjacent Porch House garden. The plot is long and narrow and is described as ‘challenging’! The front garden comprises two circular rose gardens, some mature trees and a ‘long border’ of perennials. The front garden is the only flat area in the whole garden so it is here, close to the property, that there is a small kitchen garden with four raised beds for growing vegetables. There is a small courtyard which leads through to the back garden. Here, there is a green house, seating area and an herb trough. The back garden is reached by a flight of sandstone steps. Two mature standard bay trees are placed either side of the first step and lead the way to the top of the garden through a triple rose arch. Once through the arches, there is another flight of steps which lead to a terraced bank and a large formal pond. In the back garden there are silver birch cornus and acers. There is a sloping lawn and large beds of shrubs bulbs and perennials. Hedging is a large feature in the garden: there is a beech hedge which was planted as wisps, eight years ago. It is now a mature hedge. Euonymus is planted instead of low box hedging, but there are single box topiary plants which create evergreen interest.
