About The Manor Garden
Several projects are underway to make the estate as wildlife-friendly as possible. You may come across wild beehives nestled in trees or placed on stands, alongside small homes for birds, owls, ducks, bats, and hedgehogs, located in trees, buildings, water, and on the ground. Dead hedges run along the property’s borders, offering a habitat for birds, insects, and other creatures. Nettle grows abundantly around the edges to support butterflies, ladybirds, and other pollinators. All garden care is entirely natural and organic – a more challenging approach but ultimately rewarding. Even new sculptures acquired for the grounds must incorporate wildlife-friendly features.
Most of the trees and plants introduced in recent years serve one or both of two purposes: they must be edible, medicinal, or both. You might be surprised by how many familiar plants possess medicinal properties, despite being rarely used.
Visitors are welcome to stop by the barn for tea and cake, served by the local Women’s Institute group.
Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate, with all proceeds from sales benefiting NGS.
Dogs are welcome on the leash (cats and water birds on the property).
