A fundraising extravaganza with Plant MCR

Thank you to PLANT MCR for their fantastic support of our Great British Garden Party fundraiser this summer with a wonderful event at NOMA on 10th August. From planting workshops and NOMA garden tours to afternoon tea and live music, the day was filled with classic summer festivities. The event was open to everyone and no ticket was needed.
Andy told us “We wanted to get involved because it’s just a lovely way to support the fantastic work the National Garden Scheme does and celebrate the NOMA gardens here in the city centre. It was also close to our hearts this year because our apprentice gardener, Phoebe, received her grant from the National Garden Scheme which has allowed her to do the ‘Retrain as a gardener’ scheme with the WFGA with us since last November.
“Despite an early downpour, the day was a great success and by the end everyone was enjoying themselves in the sunshine. The plant sale was probably the biggest success of the day but we had lots of things taking place, including a cake sale from market kitchen – Manchester Urban Diggers, workshops from a host of talented local groups and individuals, live music and a good old fashioned raffle as well.
“We were delighted that thanks to the generosity of all of our visitors we raised a fantastic £606 in support of the National Garden Scheme and the vital nursing and health charities they support. And we are already looking forward to planning next year’s event!”
