Air dry clay bells

Here’s a lovely craft to try with the family this Christmas. Create these air dry clay bells and decorate to suit your theme – perfect for tree decorations or to add to a wreath or garland, or to simply hang in a special place.

What you need:

White air dry clay
An egg cup (or similar to act as a mould if you’re not confident at getting the right shape)
A skewer to make holes
Acrylic paint
String or ribbon

Method:

1. Take a ball of clay and push it into your egg cup (or mould) to form the shape of the bell. We put a strip of grease proof paper in first for easy release.

2. Make a hole in the top of the bell shape and set aside to dry.

3. Roll a small ball of clay to make the clanger and make a hole through it. Set aside to dry

4. Once dry paint the bell and clanger with a base colour of acrylic paint – we used white – and then add your design.

5. When the paint is dry thread the bell and clanger with string and hang.
