Bay leaf wreath
These lovely bay leaf wreaths are so easy to make and look great as part of your Christmas decorations. Not only do they look and smell good but you can pluck the leaves for your cooking at Christmas and way into the new year.
The only downside we could find was finding a good supply of bay leaves – ask friends and family if their bay trees need a prune!
What you need:
Lots of bay leaves – plucked from the stems
A loop of garden wire – use a thicker gauge that will hold its shape
Ribbon for decoration
Method:
- Remove bay leaves from the stems – the sizes don’t really matter
- Cut or make a ring of garden wire (choose a size to suit your harvest, ours was c.18cm diameter) creating a looped hook at one end – this will stop the leaves coming off and help secure the finished wreath
- Slide the leaves onto the wire piercing them in the middle with the wire – continue until the wreath is complete
- Secure the wire by pushing it through the already created loop and folding it back
- Add ribbon or decoration to cover the join and hang – you can hang outside but better inside if you want the leaves to dry
