Created from scratch in the autumn of 2014, the owners have had to contend with the realities of building a garden on a modern housing estate. The garden is courtyard in style and formed from a series of raised beds and green oak structures. Visitors can expect plantings of bananas, gingers, bamboos and Tetrapanax, along side traditional herbaceous perennials grasses and clematis. Enchanting, wildlife friendly garden where each month of the year has something exciting to offer. Winter borders planted with colourful cornus and evergreen shrubs, underplanted here with snowdrops and hellebores. Gravel areas are carpeted with miniature cyclamen. It develops through the seasons culminating in early autumn with a spectacular show of sun-loving herbaceous plants. Opens for By Arrangement visits from February to November.
A 2 ½ acre garden created over 40 years with various formal and informal areas divided by hedges and shrub borders. Mixed colourful formal planting to the rear of the house leading to a gravel yard with drought tolerant borders and large topiary subjects (topiary award winner). Beyond the farmyard is a wildlife pond, kitchen garden and wildflower orchard with a rose walk. Cut flower area and countryside views. Fairy glade across meadows. Livestock may be present in adjoining fields so regret no dogs. Opens for By Arrangement visits from June to August for groups of between 10 and 20.
A colourful town garden with herbaceous borders, climbers, a greenhouse and a pond. Planted in cottage garden style with traditional flowers, the borders overflow with late summer annuals and perennials inc salvias and rudbeckia. The pretty terrace next to the house is lined with ferns and hostas. The owners also make home-made chutneys and preserves which can be purchased on the day. Opens for By Arrangement visits from July to September.
Willow Cottage was originally part of the Duke of Bedford estate, known for their generously sized gardens enabling tenants to grow additional food. Over the years the garden has changed into a cottage style garden with a mixture of shrubs, perennials, raised beds and a rose garden. Opens for By Arrangement visits from 16 June to 27 July for groups of between 8 and 10.
