An enchanting well planted woodland garden stretching along the sandstone ridge above Bolesworth Castle featuring large leaf, species and hybrid rhododendrons, azaleas and camellias. Explore the paths on The Rock and find the Lion & Lamb Cave with its stunning view of the Welsh Hills and the skyline of Liverpool. Continue your walk through the castle gardens and round the lake. The garden has deep borders full of perennials, a wildflower meadow and a formal area with parterres and central water feature. Tucked under the south side of Burton Wood the garden is home to many specialist and unusual plants, some available in plant sale. This 2 acre garden is on two sites, a short walk along an unmade lane. Trees, shrubs, colourful herbaceous, bulbs, alpines and water features compete for attention. Deliberately left untidy through the winter for wildlife, the snowdrops love it. Erythronium are a feature of the garden in April. Always changing, Liz can’t resist a new plant. Trustwood is a typical relaxed country garden of ¾ acre. Our aim over the past fourteen years has been to create a haven for wildlife. The garden has three distinct areas with more formal planting to the rear of the house with a pergola and deep herbaceous borders, a large area of raised beds for fruit, flowers and vegetables to the front, and finally an area of woodland which is being developed. This is a small suburban garden which is constantly evolving. Recent changes include replacing a mixed hedge with yew, making room for more planting areas, more sunlight and more plants! We design and maintain the garden ourselves for year-round interest but the front herbaceous border provides an explosion of colour in July. The flower garden is our show garden, the focus for horticultural therapy/nature based activities. It has large herbaceous borders, trees and shrubs, planting focussing on the senses and wildlife. We grow masses of edibles and cut flowers in the allotment (for gifting to our community) and The Yard has a massive greenhouse, workshop, activity shelter and Friendship Garden.
