Contemporary space sympathetically redesigned in 2017 to keep many of the existing plants, trees and shrubs from a 1930s semi’s garden. Modern take on the classic garden in two halves: ornamental and vegetable. All year interest gabion borders packed with perennials and annuals, central bed featuring a pond and a mature Japanese maple. The garden has been recently updated. This is a colourful space on several levels containing shrubs, trees and climbers enabling the garden to be viewed from different aspects. A plantsman’s garden containing a range of unusual trees and shrubs such as Cardiandra formosana, Cercidiphyllum rotfuchs and Hemiboea subcapita. Of the five distinct areas of the rear garden, the shrubs and trees of two areas surround a stream and pond to create an air of tranquillity. Visitors can enjoy strolling through the rear garden viewing the modern sculptures or relax on the seating provided. A garden with mature fruit trees is planted for interest throughout the year. The structure of the garden evolved around three circles- two grass lawns and a wildlife pond.
