Over the last 15 yrs we have evolved our enclosed garden from what was previously extensively laid to lawn with traditional borders, to a varied characterful garden structured by hedges, paths and herbaceous borders. Topiary, creative planting and water features give emphasis and contrast with the lavender rill, pyramid and globe gardens. The lawn has gradually disappeared! For 26 yrs, the Bosworth House garden has matured, just like us. Spanning 3 acres, the garden is organic and features herbaceous borders, over 120 roses, an orchard, hedges, and paddocks. In 2024, we made our first mulberry jam, tried making medlar and quince jelly, harvested grapes, and carried out the first trimming of our stunning Wellingtonia. A garden for all seasons with quirky original sculptures and many faces. Firstly, a south aspect lawn and borders containing bulbs, shrubs, roses and rare trees with year-round interest; hedging, palms, climbers, a wildlife, fish and lily pond, terrace with potted bulbs and unusual plants in odd containers. A cottage garden where perennials and grasses are grouped creatively together amongst gravel paths, complementing one another to create a natural look. Some unusual plants and quirky oddities create a different and colourful informal garden. Lots of flowers for cutting and a gift shop in the barn. New meadow pasture turned into new cutting garden. Early spring garden with snowdrops and hellebores, summer and autumn mixed borders, many obelisks and containers, kitchen garden, herb bed, rambling roses and at least 60 different hostas. Large garden developed by the current owners over the past 25 yrs. Features varied planting habitats, inc areas designed for shade, sun, and pollinator friendly sites. Hostellarie is a long town garden divided into rooms. Lawns and grass paths lead you through varied colour borders, ponds, and water features. A courtyard garden, shaded by an old clematis, contains over 40 different hostas, with even more mature specimen hostas in the north facing bed and other shady spots. Roses, clematis, cottage and gravel borders, and a welcoming, relaxing atmosphere. Opens for By Arrangement visits from June to July for groups of between 10 and 25.
Escape the town and visit a small tropical rainforest in a water garden oasis. A wonderful example of what is possible in an urban space, featuring a pond, waterfalls, curved bridge, fire pit and many more surprises. The jungle feel is enhanced by large leaved plants underplanted with ferns, hostas, mosses and bright pops of colour. Plenty of ideas and plants to take home. Town garden with patio, two lawns bordered by curved pathway and a rockery with ‘lion’s head’ waterfall feature. Mature trees give structure to herbaceous borders planted with flowering shrubs, lupins, clematis, primulas and more. A town garden with two water features, plus a stream and a pond flanked by a 12ft clinker-built boat. There are six raised beds, two of which are planted with acers and one with sweet peas and dahlias. A patio lined with acers has two steps down to a gravel garden with paved paths. Wildlife friendly garden with many small trees, bushes, and perennials. We aim to have something flowering every month of the year to support insect life. Gravel paths and stone steps provide access to the sloping site, which is just under ¼ acre. The garden is in the process of being made even more wildlife friendly, with many more plants being added to feed bees, moths, and butterflies. Large rural garden lovingly developed over the past 43 yrs on a very exposed site, planted with hedges and shelter for wildlife and birds. Roses, shrubs, and borders aiming for year-round interest. Over an acre of garden wrapped around the former nursery with beautiful views. Planted with many unusual shrubs and herbaceous perennials over the last 30+ yrs to reflect the wide range of plants produced, inc seven large island beds planted mainly with herbaceous perennials.
