23 St Johns Road, Rowley Park

Pass through the black and white gate of this Victorian house into a part-walled gardener’s haven. Bulbs, alpines and shady woodlanders in spring and masses of unusual herbaceous plants and climbers. Numerous Japanese maples. Many spots to sit in sun or shade. Steps and gravel in places. Gardener is keen Hardy Plant Society member and sows far too many seeds, so always something good for sale. Opens for By Arrangement visits from 14 May to 18 June for groups of between 20 and 50.

19 Waterdale, Compton

A romantic garden of surprises, which gradually reveals itself on a journey through deep, lush planting, full of unusual plants. From the sunny, flower filled terrace, a ruined folly emerges from a luxuriant fernery and leads into an oriental garden, complete with tea house. Towering bamboos hide the way to the gothic summerhouse and mysterious shell grotto. Opens for By Arrangement visits from 4 June to 15 August for groups of between 10 and 35.

Yew Tree Cottage, White Cross

Hardy Plant Society member’s garden brimming with unusual plants. Year-round interest inc meconopsis, trillium and other shade lovers. ½ acre inc gravel, borders, vegetable and plant sales. National Collection Dierama (Angels Fishing Rods) featured on BBC Gardeners’ World, flowering first half July. Covered vinery for tea if weather is unkind, seats in the garden for sunny days. Opens for By Arrangement visits from 4 July to 27 July.
