13 Glenarm Walk, Bristol: a serene oasis

In the busy city of Bristol, Garden Owner, Martin Fitton has created a serene oasis. The garden, influenced by traditional Japanese gardens, transports you from the suburban to a place of peace and tranquility.

Martin discovered his passion for Japanese gardens upon a visit to Compton Acres, Dorset in 2009. In the years that followed, he set about transforming his own garden – utilising traditional Japanese planting, concepts, and designs to create the seven garden rooms which are there today.

A closer look…

After making the decision to transform his garden, Martin began his research. Using books, magazines, and online communities to help him establish and perfect his Japanese garden.

Over a decade later, Martin finds great joy walking through the garden and seeing the different areas he has created, from the zen garden to the koi pond, garden room and fire pit area.

“I get great satisfaction seeing the garden, and knowing I created it all myself” he comments. “It never fails to put a smile on my face.”
