Mother’s Day is the traditional time of year to give mums a day off from doing the multitude of daily jobs they’re usually tasked with. And what better way to say thank you than to treat her to a wonderful garden visit with a delicious cup of tea and a slice of cake! It makes a change from the traditional flowers and chocolates and gives you all a chance to create a special memory.

The Lodge, Bodmin, Cornwall is a three acre riverside garden specialising is trees and shrubs chosen for their flowers, foliage and form. This fascinating garden includes a Gothic lodge remodelled in 2026, once part of the Glynn estate. It’s a Mother’s Day treat with magnolias, camellias, and spring bulbs at their peak in late March with early rhododendrons and azaleas starting to show. There are cream teas and light lunches too.

Mount Ephraim Gardens, Faversham, Kent is a privately owned 10 acre garden of terraced Edwardian gardens with stunning views over the Kent countryside. Highlights include a Japanese rock and water garden, arboretum, unusual topiary and a spectacular grass maze plus many mature trees, shrubs and spring bulbs. Home-made teas will be served in the West Wing Tea Room.

Llanover, Gwent is a magical garden with ponds, cascades and rills forming the backbone of this 15 acre garden as the stream winds its way from its source in the Black Mountains to the River Usk. There are herbaceous borders, a drive lined with Narcissi, spring bulbs, wildflowers, a water garden, champion trees and two arboreta and home-made teas.

Coddington Vineyard in Herefordshire is five acres including a two acre vineyard, listed farmhouse, and cider mill. The garden has terraces, woodland with massed spring bulbs, a large pond with stream garden, masses of primula and Hellebores and snowdrops, Hamamelis and Parottia. Home-made teas and apple juice available!

Little Court, Hampshire is a delightful 3 acre plantswoman’s sheltered naturalistic garden for all seasons, especially memorable in spring. It is mature and exuberant with contrasting areas, including a traditional walled kitchen garden and free-range bantams. The garden appeals to all ages. It is a favourite with photographers, having appeared in many magazines and books; it was featured in the RHS The Garden magazine and Country Life among others.

Haldon Grange, Exeter, Devon is a peaceful, well established 19 acre garden with parts dating back to 1770’s. This hidden gem boasts one of the largest collections of rhododendrons, azaleas, magnolias and camellias. Interspersed with mature and rare trees and complemented by a lake and cascading ponds.
