Enchanting 180 year old cottage, home of two Royal Academy artists. 32ft x 12½ft garden on three patio levels. Pencil gate leads to colourful scented Victorian walled garden. Sculptures and paintings hide among the flowers and shrubs. Opens Sunday 8th December (2pm-4pm), Adult adm £3.50, chd free.
The garden is set in a total of eight acres. Three acres of formal gardens and five acres woodland planted in 2003. The formal gardens are divided into nine separate areas. The lawns are edged with mixed planting for different seasons from snowdrops, spring bulb displays through the summer plants and shrubs. There are many surprising statues and sculptures throughout the grounds. Opens Friday 13th December (5pm to 7pm). Adult adm. £7, Chd free. Wine available.
Nativity Themed Open Garden. Get into the Christmas spirit with Christmas Carols at various points including live music at some points. The garden will be in its winter slumber with some brave plants breaking up the bare earth. There will be lots of nativity sets scattered around the garden. (& Santa has a left a sack of presents for the youngsters) Santa Sack gift £1 per child, £5 each for Adults to include a hot drink and mince pie (Bring your own travelling mug to be refilled if you want to wander the garden with it). The award-winning gardens at Athelhampton, surround the Tudor manor house, and date from 1891. The Great Court with 12 giant yew topiary pyramids is overlooked by two terraced pavilions.
