About Forth Cottage Garden
Forth Cottage garden is included in Shirley Lanigan’s book “The Open Gardens of Ireland”.
It features south-facing, roadside planting in front of the original cottage with three distinct and contrasting areas in the main garden. Thin soil over rock limits planting to drought tolerant plants with summer emphasis on violas, geraniums, orchids and other cottage garden varieties. One area is being allowed largely to rewild. The alpine troughs on the terrace in the walled garden give Spring interest.
