Greening Porthleven
Porthleven Environment Group are a band of volunteers dedicated to improving Porthleven’s environment for the benefit of it’s people and wildlife. In 2018 they took over a derelict greenspace and transformed it into a garden for the community to enjoy.
They applied for a National Garden Scheme community garden grant to install corrugated raised beds to use for fruit and vegetables for local residents.
Volunteers meet twice a week to work on projects, maintaining nine sites across the town. At Penrose Parc they have planted the newly installed raised beds with strawberries, beans, radishes and rhubarb which have been enjoyed by locals and pollinators!
They said; “The residents of the estate absolutely love this place. Many of them have donated plants and also their time”
