A five acre woodland and parkland garden created from wilderness and situated among beautiful scenery with year-round interest. Over 3,000 trees and shrubs inc growing collections of magnolia, rhododendron, hydrangea, Cornus and many unusual trees and shrubs. Also, a large pond, an orchard, a fernery and sea view gardens. Cuddfan, a garden in the Japanese style features a range of mature cloud pruned pine, acer, ginko and other trees with rocks, ponds and meandering paths. The design with its constrained palette has colour bursts from azaleas in season. It connects with nature incorporating symbolic Japanese aesthetics highlighting the natural landscape. Discover 2½ acres of formal and informal areas with encroaching nature and great views; with wild meadow walks, trees, hedgerows and stream; a kitchen garden, lean-to greenhouse, orchard and apiary, divided by hedges and stonewall terracing with steps. The garden benefits from coastal and mountain views with approx three acres of deciduous woodland, originally planted in the C19, mostly with beech. We have protected the remaining old trees, encouraged natural regeneration, and enriched the woodland with some plantings. Created from brambly wilderness since 2015, the garden is on unforgiving rocky remains of quarried stone from building the Old School. South facing, views of Menai Strait. Sheltered from westerly winds dry, free draining soil suits agapanthus; ginger lilies; salvias and enormous echiums. Winding paths, steep in parts, mean accessibility is limited. Hedges of yew, box and beech complement mixed and herbaceous borders, a re-introduced orchard, natural woodland and natural areas. Located on a headland overlooking the Irish sea, there are spectacular views, wildflowers and sheer drops with seating. The garden has many paths to take; discover raised fishpond and wildlife ponds, with plants jostling together and constantly evolving. Wander through the woodland but don’t miss the hosta area with rill, raised vegetable beds complete with compost area and arches with climbers. An eight acre smallholding which is a pollinator and wildlife sanctuary. Discover our spring-fed pond with islands and honeybee friendly woodland and lakeside walks. Spring bulbs and honeybee specific herbaceous borders as well as an apiary. Wander through the orchard with soft fruit and raised vegetable bed. Meadows grazed with Shropshire tree-friendly sheep. Large eco friendly garden with much to discover. In the front garden you will find shrubbery, mixed flower beds and roses that surround a mature copper beech. Six steps lead to the largely productive back garden which has an apiary in the orchard, fruit, vegetables, flowers and a polytunnel. Plenty of seating throughout to sit and enjoy the garden. A rural garden developing around mature trees, shrubs and ponds. We are constantly adding to the planting, recycling, reusing and repurposing materials and growing plants from seeds, cuttings and division. There are plenty of places to sit and relax. A productive organic vegetable garden includes a polytunnel and raised beds. Around five years old the garden is maturing and changing almost daily.
