The garden comes into its own from end of August, when the Tropical Garden is in full growth. There is also a walled Italian style garden, small Japanese area and woodland with ponds and a waterfall. The Tropical Garden has a wide variety of Palms, Bananas, Gingers, Eucomis and Dahlias and has a network of paths threading through for you to explore and immerse yourself in the Tropics. Garden, designed by owners, on an unusually shaped ⅓ acre plot formed from 2 triangles of land. The garden is a secluded oasis in the centre of the village. It is filled with a wide range of plants, inc many trees, shrubs, perennials and over 100 geums which make up the National Collection. In an effort to attract more wildlife some areas of grass have been left unmown, and a new butterfly and moth ‘meadow’ was created during lockdown to replace the main nursery area. At the base of the Downs, springs rising in this garden form the source of the East Stour. The Garden Gate is a community garden based in Northdown Park, growing a mixture of plants, flowers and vegetables using organic methods.
