New gardens in Leicestershire

10 High Street, Somerby

A 10 yr project to turn a medium size plot dominated by car parking and conifers into a garden. Terraced herbaceous borders, edged by an entirely self-seeded dry gravel garden lead to a courtyard with reflecting pool and terrace. Kitchen garden, raised beds, greenhouse, small orchard and island beds. Pond with bog garden, and fern rockery lead to a sunken patio overlooking the horse pond. Opens Sunday 21st June.

Beau Briar, Packington

A large level mature garden in a central location within the village. This is a garden for gardeners interested in plants with colour and variety everywhere. There are north and south facing borders with a good mix of sun and shady areas, sumptuous pot planting, and a lovely vine laden pergola shading the main terrace. There is a fine collection of acers both in the borders and in pots. Opens Sunday 26th July.
