A contemporary 3 acre rectory garden by award-winning designer Anoushka Feiler. Inspired by the Old Rectory’s C18 history and religious setting, the main garden is divided into six areas: kitchen garden, glasshouse and flower garden, woodland menagerie, pleasure garden, park, and orchard. Elements of C18 design such as formal structures, parterres, topiary, long walks, occasional seating areas and traditional craft work have been introduced, but with a distinctly C21 twist through the inclusion of living walls, modern materials and features, new planting methods and abstract installations. There are six raised beds, two of which are planted with acers and one with sweet peas and dahlias. A patio lined with acers has two steps down to a gravel garden with paved paths. Flore gardens have welcomed visitors since 1963 as part of the Flore Flower Festival, partnering with the NGS since 1992 with openings every year. Flore is a picturesque village with views overlooking the Upper Nene Valley. We have a varied mix of large and small gardens, each developed by friendly, enthusiastic owners who will be in their garden on the day. From traditional to eccentric, the gardens offer year-round interest, with features such as greenhouses, gazebos, summerhouses, water features, and seating areas to rest while enjoying the gardens. The June opening coincides with the long running Flore Flower Festival, featuring themed floral displays in the church and chapel. Garden tickets are valid for both days in June. Home of the Isham family for over 400 yrs, the extensive herbaceous borders complement the Elizabethan bowling lawns, together with topiary from the 1700s. The 2 acre walled garden is full of colour, with 250 rows of perennials. Another highlight is the famous Lamport rockery, among the earliest in England, which was extensively refurbished in 2024. Rockingham Castle was built on the orders of William the Conqueror, and features spectacular views over the Welland Valley. Its Motte and Bailey design influences the sweeping formal gardens you see today. Spread across 13 acres, divided into The Terrace, The Cross, The Rose Garden (planted with David Austin roses), Jewel Borders and dramatic Wild Garden, the gardens inc a wealth of roses from hybrid teas to climbers. C2C Grows is a community allotment project run by the charity C2C Social Action. The project offers social and therapeutic horticultural sessions for women referred to the project who may be experiencing poor health and social disadvantage. The project takes place on a triple sized allotment with several polytunnels, a greenhouse, fruit cages, raised beds and a peaceful wildlife area with pond. Dodford is a charming small village in a very peaceful location. This new and evolving group is centred around the beautiful 1½ acre garden at Dodford House, which inc a productive kitchen and cut flower garden, rose walkway, long borders, formal lawns, topiary, and a box parterre.
