Our garden was designed in the early 1900s by Sir Reginald Blomfield: architect, garden designer and author. Yew hedges divide the garden into rooms, each one with its own atmosphere. Topiary peacocks welcome visitors at the front door and densely planted borders ensure botanical interest from spring through to autumn. Please Note: the house will not be open. In a much admired location, this stunning canalside garden has a large variety of plants, styles, structures and unusual bygones. Bulbs and hellebores abound in March, colourful planting in July/September, many well-stocked pots, all set against a backdrop of trees and shrubs in themed areas. Wildlife friendly garden with many small trees, bushes, and perennials. We aim to have something flowering every month of the year to support insect life. Gravel paths and stone steps provide access to the sloping site, which is just under ¼ acre. Flore gardens have welcomed visitors since 1963 as part of the Flore Flower Festival, partnering with the NGS since 1992 with openings every year. Flore is a picturesque village with views overlooking the Upper Nene Valley. We have a varied mix of large and small gardens, each developed by friendly, enthusiastic owners who will be in their garden on the day. From traditional to eccentric, the gardens offer year-round interest, with features such as greenhouses, gazebos, summerhouses, water features, and seating areas to rest while enjoying the gardens. The June opening coincides with the long running Flore Flower Festival, featuring themed floral displays in the church and chapel. Garden tickets are valid for both days in June. Briarwood is a garden for all seasons with quirky original sculptures and many faces. Firstly, a south aspect lawn and borders containing bulbs, shrubs, roses and rare trees with year-round interest; hedging, palms, climbers, a wildlife, fish and lily pond, terrace with potted bulbs and unusual plants in odd containers. Secondly, a secret garden with garden room, small orchard, raised bed potager and greenhouse. Rosi’s Taverna is an established medium south facing town garden. Kitchen garden intermingles with flowers, shrubs, plenty of fruit trees, soft fruits and vegetables in raised beds. Cacti and succulents are in the new greenhouse. A new archway is under construction. A bog garden and a pyramid water feature. A unique taverna with mosaic flooring offers perfect shelter from sun, wind and drizzle. Opens Sunday 19th April.

A group of contrasting gardens awaits your visit, with several recent additions, inc a 1⅓ acre garden undergoing a complete rebirth. Set among the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside, our unique 60 acre private woodland garden has a large and notable collection of plants, trees, and shrubs. As May ushers in warmer weather, around 100 magnolias put on a magnificent display, complemented by azaleas and rhododendrons. The garden fills with delightful sights and scents. In previous years, we have let some of our areas grow wilder, leaving the grass longer and allowing wild flowers to bloom, which helps support our insect and bird population. Ashby Manor House is located at the far end of the pretty village of Ashby St Ledgers in Northamptonshire. Famed for being the home of Robert Catesby of Gunpowder plot notoriety, its beautifully landscaped gardens are the work of Edwin Lutyens at the turn of the century. A collection of gardens opening across Little and Great Brington. Eleven gardens will open in Little Brington and eight more in Great Brington. Some are large and formal, while others are smaller but no less interesting. All are set in rolling countryside and within two of the most attractive villages in the county. We also hope to provide a courtesy shuttle bus service between the two villages, adding a little extra fun. Or, if you prefer, there is a lovely one-mile walk between the villages across the fields. The pretty village of East Haddon dates back to the Norman invasion. The oldest surviving building is St Mary’s, a C12 church. The village features many thatched cottages built from the local honey-coloured ironstone. A thatched village pump and former fire station, once housing a hand drawn pump, now serving as the bus shelter. The nine gardens opening this year are a mixture of small to medium sized mature gardens, some offering beautiful views across rolling hills. They are bursting with rare and unusual plants, a variety of shrubs, climbers, roses, and perennials, along with borders, vegetable beds, espaliered fruit trees, and woodland areas. Tickets and refreshments will be available at the church. Plants propagated from the gardens and raised from seed, inc some rarities, will be on sale at Limetrees. Opens Monday 25th May.

Rockingham Castle was built on the orders of William the Conqueror, and features spectacular views over the Welland Valley. Its Motte and Bailey design influences the sweeping formal gardens you see today. Spread across 13 acres, divided into The Terrace, The Cross, The Rose Garden (planted with David Austin roses), Jewel Borders and dramatic Wild Garden, the gardens inc a wealth of roses from hybrid teas to climbers. C2C Grows is a community allotment project run by the charity C2C Social Action. The project offers social and therapeutic horticultural sessions for women referred to the project who may be experiencing poor health and social disadvantage. The project takes place on a triple sized allotment with several polytunnels, a greenhouse, fruit cages, raised beds and a peaceful wildlife area with pond. Springfield House is set within 3 acres, featuring formal garden areas, mature trees, a woodland walk, a wildflower meadow, and productive vegetable gardens. Recently redeveloped by the owners following a plan drawn up by Adam Frost, the garden seamlessly blends established planting with newly introduced formal beds.
