A picnic in the park raises funds for the Great British Garden Party
With the sun shining down last summer Talking Tables, our lead partner for the annual Great British Garden Party fundraiser, decided to host their very own get-together. We asked their social media manager, Beth to share how it went and how the whole Talking Tables team got involved.
“We’re lucky to have beautiful green space by our London offices (albeit a little parched last summer) which made the perfect spot to gather together in the sun and enjoy some social time together.
We asked the team to donate prior to heading off to the park to enjoy some cold drinks and treats under the shade of trees. We had set up an area complete with a colourful array of our outdoor rugs on the ground and honeycomb decorations hanging from the trees.
Often at work you only really chat properly with your core team or close friends. Gathering together in an informal party setting brought everyone together and gave a lovely sense of comradery after the hectic day of work. It gave everyone a chance to get to know one another better and catch up on what has been happening, hopefully without too much mention of work! It also allowed us to use our own products as we design them to be used – in happy settings, enjoyed with friends and family, which was really nice.
The added incentive of knowing that every penny we donated was making a difference to the vital nursing and health charities that the National Garden Scheme supports made it a win-win situation! What could be better than enjoying time with colleagues whilst knowing you are also helping people in need.”
Our top tips
- Make sure to cater to all tastes – we made sure to include drinks and food for all tastes and needs, including plenty of non-alcoholic and vegan options.
- Music is also key to help everyone unwind and hopefully end the party with a dance.
- Finally, don’t over-plan – keeping the party simple and a time for people to unwind and mingle without adding too many elements like forced games.
