This year we have a number of Special Event Garden openings in the South West. Glorious private gardens are offering an open day with an added extra, a talk by the head gardener or owner, a guided tour of the gardens, light refreshments, a lunch with wine or an evening with music in the garden.

To launch the National Garden Scheme’s new season, Chief Executive George Plumptre selects some of his garden highlights for the year ahead. From seaside idylls and historic gems to small gardens that inspire and delight, there’s a lot to get excited about in our 2022 garden portfolio.
The National Garden Scheme is delighted to be a Friend of The Queen’s Green Canopy, a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”. In partnership with the Woodland Trust we’ve put together information about which tree to choose for your garden and how to plant it.
Despite the ongoing restrictions and uncertainty that continued throughout the early months of 2021, severely curtailing garden opening activities, the National Garden Scheme has announced donations of over £3 million to its beneficiary charities.
Commenting, Chairman Rupert Tyler said: “At a time when the collective activities and contributions of our beneficiaries in supporting the national endeavour continued to put unbearable pressure on many aspects of their work, we are delighted to be able to continue our support in such a meaningful way.”
