On April 9th Mary Berry, President of the National Garden Scheme, launched our new appeal aimed at supporting our gardens during the current Coronavirus crisis which has forced their gates to close.
Speaking from her home, Mary said: “Right now people are not able to visit the gardens and there is no money being raised. In fact, as things are, the charity’s income is likely to be down by 80% during 2020. So a team at the National Garden Scheme made up of garden owners, volunteers and staff have organised a marvellous campaign centred about virtual garden visits. I urge you to support the campaign generously and to enjoy the stunning gardens.”
Despite having to close its garden gates for the first time in its 93-year history under current government guidelines on Coronavirus, the National Garden Scheme is working with garden owners to keep our stunning gardens virtually open for you through the coming weeks. You can enjoy virtual garden visits as well as gardening tips and tutorials from our knowledgeable garden owners. With our gardens closed, we face an 80% reduction in income in 2020, so if you enjoy this content we hope you will consider making a donation in support of the National Garden Scheme.
