A medium sized garden, it has been designed and built entirely from scratch over 15 years by the owners from a bramble, nettle and rubble field on the site of an old pig farm. It has swirling borders filled with familiar favourites and some unusual species of perennials, shrubs, roses and hydrangeas. The garden surrounds a C16 grade II listed thatched cottage. It is to a good extent walled and split into the front and back. All told, the site is about ⅓ of an acre. The garden has over 60 Japanese Acers, a magnificent walnut tree, and mature silver birch. The borders are packed and aim to provide all year seasonal interest, and a lawn that is filled with wildflowers rather than just grass. Our garden is a hidden gem made up of a formal garden with herbaceous borders, a small pond, sheds, a rockery and gravel bed. There are four acres of wildflower meadow, vegetable garden, wildlife pond, log cabin and woodland apiary in a long plot alongside the railway. It was an area of sidings, but has been a garden for the last 30 years, and we have actively managed it since 2006 for wildlife.
