By Arrangement gardens in Derbyshire

If you’re looking to organise a private visit to a garden, whether it be for a local group or for friends and family, a By Arrangement can provide something a little different. In Derbyshire there’s a range of gardens available for private By Arrangement visits, find out more below.

Riversvale Lodge, Buxton

The garden is small but full of plants collected over nearly 30 yrs. The aim is for interest throughout the seasons, based on foliage, texture and unusual plants which will flourish at over 1000ft. A wide range of insects has resulted. The site provides a clay loam soil and a range of aspects so that many plant groups thrive. Opens for By Arrangement visits from April to September for groups of between 10 and 15.

Snitterton Hall, Matlock

Snitterton Hall is a Grade I listed late Elizabethan manor house, and its gardens extend to over 4 acres. While little of the original C16 and C17 gardens remain, there are areas of formal planting, a productive vegetable garden and more naturally planted areas extending into the surrounding countryside – with a delightful collection of sculptures. The gardens are a real haven. Opens for By Arrangement visits from February to September for groups of up to 20.

27 Wash Green, Matlock

Secluded 1 acre garden, with outstanding 360° views. Inner enclosed area has topiary, pergola and lawn surrounded by mixed borders, with paved seating area. The larger part of the garden has sweeping lawns, with large borders, beds, wildlife pond with summerhouse, bog garden, areas of woodland and specimen trees. A quarter of the plot is a productive fruit and vegetable garden with polytunnel. Opens for By Arrangement visits from April to 11th October for groups of between 10 and 30.
