Later, there is a terrace full of succulents, almost no room for sitting! This two acre garden has been created by the owners over the last 50 years. There is always plenty to see in this peaceful 10 acre garden with two ponds and River Blackwater. Jewelled lawn in early April then spectacular tulips and blossom lead on to a huge number of different and colourful plants, many unusual, culminating in a purple explosion of michaelmas daisies in late Sept. This is a small garden which has a mix between classic English country border alongside a more formal Italian element at the rear of the garden after the lawned area. There are many seating areas in both sunny spots and in shady areas. The garden benefits from privacy created by large trees in neighbouring gardens. A large walled garden close to the town centre with unusually high biodiversity (e.g. 17 species of butterfly recorded) close to the turf maze and Norman castle. Semi-woodland on light free-draining chalk soil allows bulbs, hellebores and winter-flowering shrubs to thrive. A suburban garden close to Nature Reserve, (30m x 14m) featuring an old cherry tree from the orchard of the famous Belhus Mansion. The garden features abundant large borders planted heavily with herbaceous plants, small trees, roses, lilies, and ornamental grasses with oriental senses mixed with a traditional English feel with shady areas with hostas, tree ferns and Japanese style plants. This enchanting town garden is bursting with a profusion of colour from early spring through to the autumn months. Roses, clematis, agapanthus, herbaceous plants, alpines, pots with unusual succulents and cacti fill every corner of this garden. There is a wildlife pond, water features as well as other garden features which are to be found hiding within the shrubbery and throughout the garden. Spectacular herbaceous borders which sing with colour as displays of Salvia are surpassed by dahlia drifts. Gingers, Brugmansia, various bananas, bamboos and Canna add an exotic note. Mayfield Farm is a seven acre garden which only a few years ago was largely a field, with a huge glasshouse and polytunnels. Now filled with many beautiful beds and borders, we have also created a secret garden and planted yew hedging for topiary. Over a 100,000 bulbs have been planted in the garden during the past few years to create a wonderful spring display. The garden is 185ft long divided into sections. There is a decking area with pots leading to a unique fountain made from waste slates. A circular lawn is surrounded by herbaceous perennials, annuals, trees and shrubs with cabin. Behind the cabin are ferns, perennials and beehive. The garden is set in a total of eight acres. Three acres of formal gardens and five acres woodland planted in 2003. The formal gardens are divided into nine separate areas. Rookwoods is a tranquil garden where you can enjoy a variety of mature trees, herbaceous borders, a shrubbery, pleached hornbeam rooms and a walk through an ancient oak wood. Discover our work-in-progress wildflower bed, along with a buttercup meadow. There is no need to walk far. 69 Rundells is a very colourful, small town garden packed with a wide variety of shrubs, perennials, herbaceous and bedding plants in over 200 assorted containers. Hard landscaping on different levels has a summerhouse, various seating areas and water features. Opens for By Arrangement visits from June to August for groups of 8+.

Enter our gravel Bee Border, and wander through the Winter Wedding border to the Woodlands Walk and on to the meadow.
