Future Gardeners at Bankside Open Space Trust

Bankside Open Spaces Trust provides participants in the future gardeners scheme with a 10-week course in horticulture, work experience, a City & Guilds qualification, and an extraordinary 75% success rate in terms of long-term employment in the sector. Funded by the National Garden Scheme – it’s another wonderful way that garden visits, cuppas and cakes, can have a real impact all across society.

London volunteer Lena attended the graduation of the latest cohort of future gardeners at Bankside Open Spaces last week and caught up with National Garden Scheme CEO Dr Richard Claxton, designer, writer and broadcaster Hazel Gardiner and gardener, writer, producer and National Garden Scheme ambassador Martha Swales to find out what they think about about the project.
